Encouragement

Let's face it, life is hard. There are people all around in need of encouragement. But how often in life do we really take time to tell those around us that we love them? How often do we neglect the opportunities we have to be an encouragement to others simply because we don't know how? And yet, we as Christians are commanded to minister encouragement to others:

Therefore encourage each other with these words 1 Thessalonians 4:18

The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life. Proverbs 10:11

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29

Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:25

One way my family brings encouragement is by lapbooking. Lapbooks for school are a great idea, but lapbook greeting cards are even more fun. On several occasions, the children and I have created special lapbooks for friends with wonderful results. Each recipient was touched because they could tell we had put some time into creating it for them. It had a personal touch that really showed our love for them. And we enjoyed making it because it gave us an opportunity to think about how much we really appreciate that friend.
